Garforth councillor raises cash for children's hospice

Garforth and Swillington Councillor Mark Dobson put his best foot forward to raise funds for Martin House Children's Hospice.

Coun Dobson was among 11,000 runners who took part in Jane Tomlinson's annual Leeds 10k run.

He finished the course in a respectable time of 66 minutes.

Councillor Mark Dobson (Lab, Garforth & Swillington) told Garforth Today: "It was a pleasure to participate in this event for the third time and promote the fantastic work Martin House Hospice does for young people in the most difficult of circumstances. There were many Martin House runners on the day who have raised significant sums for the charity.

"I am personally grateful to Garforth & District Lions Club who, not only support the hospice year on year, but also gave me a very generous donation for my involvement in this event."

He added: "I would like to express my thanks to everyone who sponsored me, including many of my fellow colleagues from the Council.
