The new crossing is located just north of the junction of Main Street and Coupland Road.

Councillor Tom Murray (Labour, Garforth & Swillington) said: "I am delighted that a third crossing is finally going to be constructed on Main Street in Garforth.

"Main Street is a very long and busy road and currently there is a long section with no crossing.

Coun Murray added: "We have been contacted by a number of residents, especially those from the Community Association, who have problems getting across this section of the road to get to the Welfare Hall.

" This new crossing will make access to the hall much safer and easier."
