Castleford: Man dies after crash

A 59-year-old man has died after crashing his van into a traffic island and a road sign on California Drive, Castleford.

The man, from Thorpe Audlin, was driving a white Vauxhall Vivaro van, which crashed on the approach to the Normanton roundabout and the junction with the M62 at around 9pm on Friday.

He was taken to Pinderfields Hospital, where he died the next day.

Witnesses are asked to call police on 01924 293047.
