Rothwell Competitive Music Festival.

ROTHWELL COMPETITIVE MUSIC FESTIVAL
An annual music festival held in Rothwell in March or April for three days. Aimed at giving amateur musicians of all kinds the opportunity to perform in front of the public in competition with their peers and to be commented on by professional judges. The musicians range from 8 years old to 80 and can be singers, pianists, brass players string players woodwind players or members of choirs and bands.

* The competitive music festival movement started in the 1880's about the same time as the founding of the Football Association and we are affiliated to a national body called the British and International Federaton of Festivals. There are sister festivals throughout the U.K.
2009 Festival dates - Thursday, March 26 to Saturday, March 28.
Venues: Blackburn Hall, Rothwell and Rothwell Methodist Church
Adjudicators: Eileen Bentley (singing) Eric Jennings (strings) Kathryn Page (pianists) James Stretton (brass).


TheatreWorks.

THEATREWORKS
TheatreWorks is an independent part-time performing arts school based in Oulton we specialise in the tuition of Music and Drama for ages 6-18yrs and have an early years programme for the 4-6yr olds. We offer LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) Exams for both Music Theatre and Drama can be undertaken. All of our teachers are qualified and CRB checked.

Rothwell Temperance Band.

ROTHWELL TEMPERANCE BAND
The Rothwell Temperance Band is one of the best brass bands in
the country and gaining a better reputation year on year with eye catching results in some of the highest profile contests in the country. This is achieved through a great deal of hard work and commitment by all members of the band, none of whom receive any payment or reimbursement but play purely for the love of performing and entertaining.
