* Rothwell Entertainment Committee also organises mayday,carnival and 2 christmas parties in rothwll throughout the year. It is also involved in helping out lots of community groups with lending equipment free of charge such as a full PA system, fencing, contacts for rides and people where groups need help.

Rothwell Competitive Music Festival.

ROTHWELL COMPETITIVE MUSIC FESTIVAL
An annual music festival held in Rothwell in March or April for three days. Aimed at giving amateur musicians of all kinds the opportunity to perform in front of the public in competition with their peers and to be commented on by professional judges. The musicians range from 8 years old to 80 and can be singers, pianists, brass players string players woodwind players or members of choirs and bands.

* The competitive music festival movement started in the 1880's about the same time as the founding of the Football Association and we are affiliated to a national body called the British and International Federaton of Festivals. There are sister festivals throughout the U.K.
2009 Festival dates - Thursday, March 26 to Saturday, March 28.
Venues: Blackburn Hall, Rothwell and Rothwell Methodist Church
Adjudicators: Eileen Bentley (singing) Eric Jennings (strings) Kathryn Page (pianists) James Stretton (brass).
