The Cow and Calf
Hangingstone Road, Ilkley: opposite the famous rock outcrop of the same name, this wonderful pub offers good grub and drinks to go with. Depending on what the weather is doing, the real ale and real fires may cause you to want to stay longer than you anticipated. A great place in winter or summer time.
LIVIN’ Italy
Granary Wharf: a small selection of bars and eateries close to the canal, includes this one which offers three options of drink on tap – Nostra Birra, Addlestones cider, and Franciscan Well’s Chieftain IPA. The bar has a rustic feel with creaky floorboards and is open all day offering Italian inspired food. They also have an extensive wine list from £20 a bottle.

Hide AdNorth Street: he pub offers a mixture of beers including Sam Smith’s Bitter, Dark Mild, India Ale, Alpine Lager, Double Four Lager and other Sam Smith’s products. Also a small selection of wines and upmarket pub meals, with a games room offering a pool table, dart board and fruit machine. Also a courtyard to the rear outside.
The Atlas Brauhaus
King Street: set out as a German bierkeller meets a city restaurant and beers on offer include Stodfold Brauhaus, plus two real ales, also Paulaner, Knombacher, Philsner, Dark and Wheat, Lowenbrau and Kirkstall Framboise. They have a good selection of wine and serve German food. With on-street parking close by.
The Editor’s Draught
Wellington Street: this city centre bar has had many incarnations and now styled in a press theme with typewriters in the windows. It has a good range of beers including Editor’s Draught, plus three more real ales, Camden Pale and other craft beers. With a good selection of wines available and lots to choose from on the food menu.
MOJO
Merrion Street: the bar is set in the rather trendy part of Leeds now known as the Northern Quarter, with lots of bars close together. Now the street has been closed to traffic, the alley is rather cosmopolitan. The bar plays good music and offers food during the day.

Hide AdParkside Road, Meanwood: a popular alehouse with an imposing entrance where you walk through a stone archway to reach the bar. They offer a changing choice of real ales as well as Fosters, Carling, Coors Light and Guinness. They also sell wine and food is available on Tuesdays with their Curry Night and Sunday Lunch between 12pm and 3pm.
