A man has been remanded in custody after appearing before magistrates following an incident at a house in Rothwell.

He was remanded in custody until Thursday.
The charge relates to an incident in which a mother and her young child were rescued by ladder from the bedroom of their home in Rothwell.
The mother had barricaded herself in the bedroom following a row with a man.
Police were unable to enter the house for almost an hour and subsequently arrested a 28-year-old man.
