A famous set of locks looked a little different as new lock gates were lowered into place.

The impressive Bingley Three Rise Locks flight has been drained while a restoration project takes place which has seen new lock gates made at the Canal and River Trust’s specialist workshop at Stanley Ferry in Wakefield.

People are being given the chance to view the works, which also include repairs to the 200-year-old-canal wall, from a temporary viewing platform at the site until March 6.

This year the Leeds and Liverpool Canal marks its 200th anniversary.
