Police in Leeds find and 'destroy' cannabis farms in Hyde Park and Rawdon

The Leeds North West branch of West Yorkshire Police said that the two farms in Hyde Park and Rawdon were found yesterday (Wednesday) and that one arrest has been made.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Yesterday, two more Cannabis farms were discovered and destroyed, one in Hyde Park & one in Rawdon.

“Arrests were made at one of the two farms & investigations are ongoing into both."

The force defines a cannabis farm as “premises which have been adapted to such an extent that normal usage would be inhibited” due to the cultivation of items used to produce the Class B drug.

Tips are also given on what to look out for to spot a cannabis farm in your neighbourhood, including strong odours, covered windows, lots of visitors and lots of cables and wiring.

Evidence shows that most cannabis farms in West Yorkshire are properties that rented by single males (86%) and that most of these are aged between 30 and 39 (36%), followed by 20 to 29 (28%).

A spokesperson added: “Leeds Neighbourhood Policing Team would like to reassure the local communities, that action will be taken to disrupt those involved in the production and supply of drugs in order to provide safer communities for all.
