Leeds United youngster Illan Meslier has made a fan of one of his Elland Road predecessors.

Former Whites and England stopper Rob Green thinks the 21-year-old is an ‘amazing kid’ who has coped admirably with the difficult task of keeping goal for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

“As Luke Ayling said to me: ‘If he was English, everyone would be raving about him’,” said Green.

“He is an amazing kid and only 21.”

Victor Orta has described Leeds United winger Raphinha as a ‘special case’ following his first season at Elland Road.

“Raphinha is a special case,” Orta told One Football over the Brazilian. “He has been brilliant from the moment he touched this club.

“But it wasn’t easy because he arrived in the last few days of the transfer window, really nervous and, honestly, he didn’t have a lot of time to decide.

“We saw an opportunity late on and gambled – just like he did with us – and, hopefully, this is the beginning of something beautiful."
