Three Leeds Rhinos players have been suspended following Sunday’s stormy win at Salford Red Devils.

Captain and half-back Luke Gale was issued with a two-game penalty notice by the RFL’s match review panel and forwards Bodene Thompson and Alex Mellor both picked up a one-game ban.

Gale, who was sin-binned alongside Salford’s Ryan Lannon, was charged with grade C punching and will miss Thursday’s visit of Leigh Centurions and Rhinos’ game at Warrington Wolves four days later.

Thompson, who was sent-off after 15 minutes, was charged with grade B punching and will sit out this week’s game, along with Mellor who is accused of grade B “contact with the match official”.

Two other Rhinos players were charged with grade A offences and escaped without a ban.

Hooker Brad Dwyer was accused of dangerous contact and centre Tom Briscoe charged with contact with the match official.

Salford’s Lee Mossop, who was sent-off for flattening Rhinos’ Konrad Hurrell, received a two-match penalty notice for grade C punching and Joe Burgess will miss one match for a grade B similar offence.
