As well as the individual tragedies involves in every death from the virus, everyday life in 2020 has also turned upside down - whether you've been directly affected by Covid-19 or not. But the Leeds we love is still going strong, and even if the pandemic shows no signs of stopping yet, we can still look to the future. Here are nine things we're looking forward to in Leeds in 2021.
1. Leeds Festival

2. Leeds United success
Leeds United were narrowly defeated in their first game in the Premier League, but if their performance against Liverpool is anything to go by, 2021 is going to bring lots of goals for the Whites. 3. Summer holidays
Summer holidays have been cancelled for all but a lucky few this year, but Leeds-based airline Jet2 has said its prices will need to remain “enticing” to attract cautious holidaymakers - so there are bargains to be had.
4. A more attractive city centre
Work started last month on a £25m makeover of the area around the Corn Exchange last month. The whole area will become much more pedestrian friendly, and is expected to be complete by winter next year.
5. Leeds Pride
The 15th annual celebration of the city's LGBT community is set to make a colourful comeback on Sunday August 1, 2021 after the 2020 event was cancelled in May.
6. Live music
Any hope of live music in 2020 seems to be quickly disappearing, but promoters seem confident about 2021, with plenty of acts booked to play in and around Leeds - including Steps, The Music and Snoop Dog.
